What is this?
Join us for a walking tour at the Nature Forward’s (formerly Audubon Society) peaceful 40-acre Woodend Nature Sanctuary (entrance at 8940 Jones Mill Road). The paved one-quarter mile path cutting through the sanctuary traverses meadow, forest stream and pond inhabitants. Participants will see first-hand how a well-managed nature preserve can create an environment in which a diversity of plants and wildlife can thrive and co-exist in harmony. Nature Forward has made available an informative brochure that describes different aspects of the sanctuary’s ecosystem at stops along the way.
Near the end of the walk, the group will take a break on benches at one of the preserve’s meeting alcoves to have an informal picnic, share observations and discuss possible links to our neighborhood environment initiatives. After the tour, participants can shop for nature-related books and gift items at the Woodend Nature Shop. Plan to bring a snack for the picnic break. Carpooling is encouraged. Melissa Crown and Bill Primosch will coordinate. The walk will be rescheduled if it rains.
Please register ASAP (before Sept 5 ) so we can work out carpools and meet-up spot. To register, email: info@bradleyhillsvillage.org.
